| Keeping your car, truck or SUV clean is something that a pressure washer can definitely help with. You’ll save time, water & have a cleaner looking car by using one. Depending on where you live and what season it is, you may find yourself pressure washing your vehicle up to each week if its during the winter season to remove salt & grime. If you live in warmer climates, you may only need to wash your car every other week. Disclaimer Closely follow all safety procedures outlined in your owners manual. NEVER point the pressure washer gun at anyone! Please keep all children away from the project you are about to clean- pressure washers are powerful tools than can cut into the skin as easily as they remove dirt from stubborn job. As with any project, first get a feel for your pressure washer, learning how it works and getting a feel for working with the force of pressure against you. It may seem like many of the instructions tell you not to do this or that when using your pressure washer, but knowing what not to do is as important as knowing what to do. Quite frankly, it can mean the difference between quickly and easily finish your project and a ruined paint job or even a trip to the hospital. The power of pressure washers should be respected and used correctly. Always have both hands on the gun-its safer and you have much better control. Detergents: A word about any carwash cleaners (cleaning agent) that you plan on using. Be sure to use cleaners that are made for your particular pressure washer. Dish detergent and other non-approved cleaning agents can damage your pressure washer or your vehicle. Use only manufacturer approved detergents. First steps: After getting your detergent ready, setting up your pressure washer and starting it, you are ready to begin. Start by completely wetting down the entire surface of your vehicle. Next, spray down you car with your cleaning detergent. Keep the tip of the pressure washer 3 or more feet from your car’s surface. If you need more cleaning power, you can always move in a little closer, but do this with care. You can cause permanent damage to you vehicles finish if you hold the tip of the pressure washer gun to close to your car. Never use a 0 degree tip on your pressure washer gun to clean your vehicle. Tips for applying cleaning chemicals: Apply the car wash chemical to a section of you vehicle at a time. Start from the bottom of your vehicle can work up to the top in applying the cleaning chemical. Use an overlapping pattern to cover the entire surface of your vehicle. Don’t forget to apply cleaning chemical to the tires, wheel wells and other harder to reach areas. 5 or so minutes after you spray on the cleaning chemical, you’re ready for the rinse-off. Final Rinse: Start at the top of the vehicle and work your way down until there is not more detergent on you car. Never keep the tip of the gun in one spot while cleaning-it will damage the finish. After final rinse, turn off and store your pressure washer according to the manufacturer’s direction. Never rinse your hands or any other part of your body with the pressure washer- it has the power to easily tear your skin right off! |
